Cycles Soleil

"The Warden: USELESS of you to run off, RASCAL!!! On my ´Soleil´ I will catch you at my ease."

The effects of hyperbole certainly weren't lost on this anonymous artist, as our officer's weight, age, and effortless pedaling will not stall the speedy Soleil bicycle in its pursuit of the poachers, who should have perhaps just left the rabbit behind. Given how diligently the lead man is pedaling, the proclamation must be legitimate. The stylized Flemish landscape and background gives way to a very detailed view of the bicycle, including an early bike license from the Belgian province of Brabant attached to the front hub. In addition to the name Brabant, its coat of arms can be seen, which encompasses a lion. This lion is extremely similar to the lion found on the Flemish flag that is flown proudly by cycling fans at professional races around Europe.
